Clenergy recently signed an investment and development agreement to develop 100MW of PV projects in Lijiang City's Huaping County, Yunnan. The agreement was formalized at the inaugural China-South Asia Expo.
Clenergy and its strategic partner CGN Solar Energy signed a 300MW project agreement with Lijiang in March. According to local government representatives Clenergy's comprehensive skill set and proven track record on utility-scale projects gave the officials of Huaping County confidence in the project.
Clenergy will invest RMB one billion (US$163 million) into the projects, which cover a total area of 530 square kilometers. The 20MW initial phase of the project is in Huaping's Zhongxin Town. Production is expected by the end of August, 2014.
With a dry-hot-valley (DHV) climate, Huaping's natural conditions provide abundant solar energy resources for local solar power development. By working with Clenergy, the Huaping government expects the projects to bring solar power to Huaping and to relieve the local imbalance of electrical supply and demand. Huaping is also becoming a pioneer county in the integration of economic development and environmental protection in Lijiang and in Yunnan.
