SPI 2012: Isofot¨®n opens Ohio manufacturing facility

Spain¡¯s Isofot¨®n has opened its new 50MW manufacturing facility in Napoleon, Ohio. Production is slated to begin in November, with the company noting that the facility has been designed to be able to expand to up to 300MW in capacity. The company received US$15 million in financing for the Ohio plant.

Isofot¨®n¡¯s Ohio facility will start with 120 employees, and hopes to employee as many as 330 people once the site reaches full capacity. During its announcement at SPI, Isofot¨®n noted that it plans to focus its hiring on Ohio¡¯s returning military veterans. The company can be found at booth #2930.

According to Ángel Luis Serrano, Isofoton¡¯s chief executive, ¡°We have developed a sound plan for growth in the US, a country that will lead the photovoltaic industry over the next ten years. Isofoton North America¡¯s new Ohio manufacturing facility is an example of our commitment to the US market, and benefits from the support of key partners, including Samsung, Mercedes AMG, Posco, as well as our highly productive R&D and economic development partnership with the University of Toledo, Ohio. Our goal is to position Isofoton North America as a strong alternative source of clean and affordable energy to meet the growing energy independence demands of the dynamic US market
