Update: India to launch anti-dumping investigation against Chinese manufacturers

Date£º2012/9/20

Rumours abound in the Chinese media that Indian solar manufacturers are following in the footsteps of SolarWorld and pressuring the government to take anti-dumping action against Chinese companies.

Just a few weeks ago, non-governmental organization (NGO), the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), accused US thin-film manufacturers of using a loop hole in the Indian government¡¯s renewable energy scheme to ¡°ruin the Indian domestic PV industry¡±.

Update:

Prasanth Sakhamuri, chairman of HHV Solar Technologies confirms the rumours, stating, "Indian solar industry is in its infancy and needs to be supported and protected from predatory pricing for it to establish roots. It would be a very positive move if the indian government is able to impose an anti dumping tax on Chinese panels which are currently sold well below their manufacturing cost in India. This move will be very important in India establishing a total solar eco system and have self-reliance in renewables."
